Kati Machtley honored by RIWHE


Women’s Summit director recognized by Rhode Island Women in Higher Education.

Bryant First Lady Kati Machtley, director of the Women’s Summit, was presented the Rhode Island Women in Higher Education’s Annual Award for Outstanding Leadership at the organization’s spring event. It was held on April 18 at the Save the Bay headquarters in Providence.

After being introduced by Jennifer Chasse, program manager in the Executive Development Center at Bryant, Machtley took a moment to reflect on the roles that her grandmothers, mother, and father played in her journey as an educator.

About Our Membership

Rhode Island Women in Higher Education (RIWHE) was organized officially at its first meeting on April 25, 2003. For a detailed description of the organization, please see the RIWHE Operating Guidelines. Dr. Nancy Carriuolo, associate commissioner for academic and student affairs at the RI Office of Higher Education, is the first state coordinator.

Women leaders in higher education in the state are encouraged to join RIWHE by contacting Deanna Velletri at deanna@etal.uri.edu. Annual dues will not be collected; however, yearly events may require one-time fees.

Benefits of membership

Listserv. RIWHE has begun a listserv to keep women in higher education in Rhode Island connected. Please contact Deanna Velletri to be added to the listserv.

Events. RIWHE will be hosting one event per year to bring RI women in higher education together. Please visit this site periodically to learn more about events. In addition, regional events and other items of interest will be announced on this site.

Networking. Make connections with other female leaders in the state. The current membership includes women from all areas of higher education, such as academic, student and financial affairs.
